Housekeeper Job Description & Duties
Purpose: The Housekeeper is responsible for keeping Red Road Recovery Assisted Living Residence located in Lumby BC clean to the highest standards and maintaining a pleasant environment for the residents and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean and orderly environment for our residents which is critical for maintaining and strengthening our reputation.
- Be thorough and be able to attend to our residence with integrity and attention to detail.
- Maintain strict boundaries with the residents. Ensure there are minimum distractions to residents so they can focus on their program.
- Uphold a professional appearance and if interacting with residents do so in a professional and positive way.
- Attention to detail to perform a thorough job.
- Ability to complete physically demanding tasks.
- Integrity, reliability, and trustworthiness to be left to work independently and stay on task.
- Maintaining confidentiality of the residents is of the utmost importance.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Duties:
- Clean the group room before it is needed for facilitation or activities
- Clean the kitchen before the chef arrives for their shift at 9:00am
- If there is an excess of mess from residents or staff, please inform the Executive Director.
- Start laundry, fold, and put away laundry before the end of your shift.
- Clean all surfaces, including bathrooms, common areas, kitchen, and offices.
- Disinfect all surface areas, including bathrooms, common areas, kitchen, offices, light switches and doorknobs.
- Dust all surfaces including fans, and chandelier
- Vacuum carpeted areas.
- Sweep and Mop floors.
- Properly clean and disinfect upholstered furniture.
- Replace toilet paper and hand towels.
- Pick up any trash and emptying the trash bins.
- Make beds, wash linens, and change the linens of outgoing residents.
- Clean windows.
- Respond to employee or resident, housekeeping requests
- Deal with reasonable complaints/requests with professionalism and patience
- Adhere strictly to rules regarding health and safety.
- Notify managers of necessary repairs.
Qualifications:
- Organizational skills to keep rooms and storage closets clean and organized.
- Communication skills to take direction and work alongside other staff harmoniously.
- Time management skills - Adaptability and flexibility to focus on whatever task is most important at any given time. Working quickly without compromising quality.
- Reliable mode of transportation.
- Knowledge of cleaning appliances, and cleaning and disinfecting agents.
- Criminal Record Check.
- Must complete at least 20 hours duration in one or more of the following subjects:
- Counselling
- Crisis Intervention and Conflict Resolution
- Psychosocial Intervention for Substance Use Disorders
- Trauma-Informed Practice
