Second Annual Community Expo
MARCH 9, 2020 – There is something for absolutely everyone at the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce’s second annual Community Expo.
More than 90 booths will be highlighted during Expo, which runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kal Tire Place North March 14. It is presented by Lake City Casino and Match Eatery & Public House.
“We are overwhelmed by the positive response to Expo and the variety of exhibitors – business, non-profit, education and government – is impressive,” said Dione Chambers, general manager of the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce.
“Our vision for Expo is for North Okanagan residents to learn more about what this incredible community has to offer and particularly for businesses and non-profits, this is a wonderful opportunity to increase their profile. The Chamber has been here since 1897 and it is important for us to support local.”
Tolko, KingFisher Boats and Piscine Energetics will provide information on employment opportunities while local students can learn more about Okanagan College, the Vernon School District and Thompson Rivers University. Climb aboard the 40-foot coach from Ebus.
A full list of vendors can be found at https://www.vernonchamber.ca/community-expo.
Expo is also about family fun and there will be face painting by Kiki the Eco Elf while The Bug Guys and Allan Brooks Nature Centre will be on site with hands-on activities. You can also climb on to a Zamboni and post your photo to social media, while RCMP and Vernon Fire Rescue vehicles are expected.
From 9 to 11 a.m., the Vernon Lions Club will host a pancake breakfast ($7 per plate) and proceeds will go towards Lions’ charities.
Attendance to Community Expo is free and make sure you enter for a chance to win a Halcyon Hot Springs package (one night in a king cottage, breakfast for two and relaxation in the hot springs), and a SilverStar package (Elevate Spa (30-Minute Session in the Bemer Chair) and a $25 SilverStar gift card). Other door prizes include a Back to Earth gift basket, a Fitbit and passes to the Okanagan Military Tattoo.
“Community spirit is strong in the North Okanagan and that passion will be front and centre for all to see at Community Expo. We encourage our friends and neighbours to stop by and say hello,” said Chambers.
