Residents cast ballot for Vote Vernon shop local campaign

VERNON – Vernon residents have been enthusiastically demonstrating their love for local as they prepare for Christmas festivities.

Since its launch Nov. 27, Vote Vernon Presented by VantageOne Credit Union has promoted the significance of Greater Vernon businesses, whether it is in-person, by delivery or via the Internet.

“We have been overwhelmed by the popularity of Vote Vernon and the willingness of residents to support their friends, neighbours and families by making purchases with local merchants or non-profits,” said Dan Proulx, Greater Vernon Chamber general manager.

“Spending money locally creates employment while it also provides resources for charities as well as community infrastructure. Every dollar you spend here is a vote for Vernon to succeed, and we thank you for investing in your community.”

Vote Vernon is proudly sponsored by VantageOne Credit Union, which began in Vernon in 1944.

Supporting local is a part of our core values. Our staff are local, we make all of our decisions here and at the end of the day, our money stays here too, whether it’s a loan to a local business or a donation to a community cause. We reinvest our profits into the communities we serve and our local members,” said Glenn Benischek, VantageOne president and chief executive officer.

“Our community is stronger when we come together to support each other. Now, more than ever, please support local businesses, retailers and restaurants,” said Roxanne Davyduke, VantageOne vice-president of consumer banking.
