Nominees announced for 2020 Business Excellence Awards
VERNON – The Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce has announced the nominees for the 2020 Business Excellence Awards Presented by Valley First, a division of First West Credit Union.
Between July 27 and Aug. 23, local residents put forward 258 nominations for businesses, non-profits and individuals in 10 categories.
“Thank you to the public for their thoughtful and passionate endorsements of business owners and non-profit organizations who have been challenged this year during the pandemic but make significant contributions to the community,” said Krystin Kempton, Greater Vernon Chamber president.
The nominees were then asked to complete a form to qualify for their category, and a full list of nominees can be found at https://www.vernonchamber.ca/business-excellence-awards-copy
“Our panel of judges will now have the difficult task of reviewing the 134 nomination packages received and identifying a winner in each category,” said Kempton.
And there is still an opportunity for Greater Vernon residents to be involved as they can vote for the People’s Choice Award starting Sept. 14 on the Chamber website. People’s Choice is sponsored by Total Restoration Services and all nominees will be eligible for this prestigious honour. People’s Choice will also help create a scholarship for a local business student.
The winners in each category will be revealed at the Business Excellence Awards virtual gala Oct. 23. Also announced that evening will be the winner of the Business of the Year Award (selected by the judges from all of the nominees in the 10 categories). Registration details for the gala will be posted soon to vernonchamber.ca.
