Federal cabinet minister speaks to Greater Vernon Chamber
Feb. 20, 2020 – On March 2, North Okanagan business and community leaders have an opportunity to meet with a federal cabinet minister.
The Honourable Mona Fortier, Minister of Middle-Class Prosperity and Associate Minister of Finance, will speak at a breakfast meeting hosted by the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce.
“We are excited that Minister Fortier has selected Vernon to kick off her B.C. tour and we would encourage our members to attend to ensure that Minister Fortier hears first-hand the issues that are important to our economy and region,” said Dione Chambers, Greater Vernon Chamber general manager.
Minister Fortier will speak to quality of life and the well-being of Canadians, and growing an economy that works for everyone. Attendees will hear what the minister’s role is, why it is important within government and how building a quality of life and well-being framework will help shape government decision making.
Fortier was elected as Member of Parliament for Ottawa-Vanier in 2017 and was appointed Minister of Middle-Class Prosperity and Associate Minister of Finance in November 2019. Prior to being elected, Fortier was the chief director of communications and market development at Collège La Cité in Ottawa and she managed her own strategic communications consulting firm. She has also served on several non-profit boards.
The March 2 breakfast session runs from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the Eatology event space and registration is available at https://www.vernonchamber.ca/events/details/chamber-event-speaker-series-mona-fortier-minister-of-middle-class-prosperity-and-associate-minister-of-finance-4320
