Chamber connects young entrepreneurs with mentors
JAN. 6, 2019 – The Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce wants to ensure that young entrepreneurs have a solid foundation moving into 2020.
On Jan. 30, the Chamber is hosting speed mentoring for entrepreneurs under the age of 40 in partnership with Futurpreneur.
“A significant challenge for a new business owner or someone who has a vision is pulling together all of the information needed for those initial first steps and preparing for long-term success,” said Dione Chambers, Greater Vernon Chamber general manager.
“This session is ideal for those just starting out or thinking of launching a business, and have questions. There are numerous professionals in the community who have been exactly where the young entrepreneurs are now, and they want to share their knowledge with the next generation.”
The mentors include:
* Sue Ross - Futurpreneur (business plans/financing)
* Tom Lewis - Profit Mastery (strategic financial planning)
* Blair Gronlund - MNP (accounting)
* Richard Boyer - Xcel Advisory Group (scaling up)
*Jodi Cunningham - Medicine Shoppe (retail/ health)
*Lyndon Dyas - Chamber Plan Group Benefits (group benefits)
*Wes Briggs - Modern Reaction Media (target marketing)
*Dione Chambers - Greater Vernon Chamber (networking/advocacy)
*Caroline Labbee - SysGen Solutions (cyber security)
*John Glennon - Sandler Sales Training (sales)
Speed mentoring runs from 4 to 6 p.m. at Okanagan Spirits and each young entrepreneur will have five minutes per mentor. Following the formal mentoring, there will be networking to expand on the conversations.
