Chamber announces nominees for Business Excellence Awards

VERNON – With much anticipation, the nominees have been announced for the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce’s 2019 Business Excellence Awards.
Local residents went above and beyond, nominating close to 300 businesses, non-profits and individuals in 11 distinct categories.
“We want to thank the public for their participation in the process, and the nominations clearly demonstrate the entrepreneurial spirit. It’s also truly inspiring to see how each of the nominees contribute to the overall well-being of the community,” Dione Chambers, Greater Vernon Chamber general manager.
The nominees were then asked to complete a form to qualify for their category. The full list of nominees can be found at https://www.vernonchamber.ca/business-excellence-awards
“We are excited as a group of judges will now have the challenging duty of reviewing all of the nomination packages. It won’t be easy but we know our judges are up to the task,” said Chambers.
Greater Vernon residents will also play a significant role in the process as they can vote for the People’s Choice Awards starting Sept. 1 on the Chamber website.
“This is a great opportunity for the public to get directly involved and let us know who their favourite nominee is among the 11 categories,” said Chambers.
A celebration of the nominees and the revealing of the top three finalists will occur during a cocktail reception at the Vernon Performing Arts Centre Sept. 4. And on Oct. 18, the winners in each category will be unveiled at the Business Excellence Awards gala at the Vernon Lodge Hotel. Also announced that evening will be the winner of the Business of the Year Award (selected by the judges from all of the nominees in the 11 categories).
The Business Excellence Awards are presented by Valley First, a division of First West Credit Union.
