About Us

Okanagan Association of Classical Music Enthusiasts (OACME) produces Vernon Proms, an annual multi-week classical music festival, to the highest standards possible with performances by local, provincial, national and international artists. Programming includes high quality chamber music concerts, workshops, opera, youth Summer Arts camp, and outdoor concerts. More than half of the events are free to the public. The festival runs at multiple Vernon's venues, with featured concerts played in Kelowna.
The festival receives enthusiastic reviews and is growing rapidly (from five events in 2016, nine events in 2017, to 19 events in 2018 -- thirteen concerts and four workshops plus 2 additional concerts in Kelowna). Both Proms 2016 and 2017 were 100% grass-roots efforts; after getting our first grant from the North Okanagan regional District in 2018 the festival grew dramatically in size and scope, producing more original programming, attracting more musicians from BC, and our first International artists.
Another OACME's project is Early Music Okanagan (EMO). EMO incorporates professional and amateur musicians who enjoy playing early music and sharing their love of it with our community. EMO produces series of Early Music concerts - Baroque and Renaissance - played on period instruments with performances in Okanagan and beyond.
