About Us

The Diversity Den Society is a registered Canadian charity based in Vernon, British Columbia, dedicated to creating inclusive opportunities where people of all abilities can connect, contribute, learn, and belong. Founded on the belief that everyone deserves meaningful participation in community life, the Society provides programs and spaces that reduce social isolation, foster personal growth, and promote inclusion for youth and adults with diverse abilities.

Our mission is to build a stronger, more connected community by creating welcoming environments where individuals can develop skills, form friendships, express creativity, and gain confidence through meaningful participation. Through community partnerships, volunteer opportunities, arts programming, and social enterprise initiatives, Diversity Den Society helps remove barriers and create opportunities for people with diverse abilities to thrive.

The **Pup-n-Cup Café & Shop** serves as the Society's inclusive community hub and social enterprise. More than a café, it is a welcoming gathering place where people can connect, build relationships, and participate in community life in an accessible and supportive environment. Through volunteer opportunities, hands-on learning experiences, and the Society's Inclusive Training Program, participants develop skills in barista services, customer service, communication, teamwork, retail operations, and workplace readiness. These experiences build confidence, foster independence, and create pathways to meaningful volunteer and employment opportunities.

**Connection Through Art and Music** is one of the Society's core programs, using creative expression to promote social connection, inclusion, personal growth, and well-being. Through accessible art and music experiences, participants develop confidence, build friendships, explore their creativity, and engage meaningfully with their community.

The Pup-n-Cup Café & Shop also features a retail space that supports both the Society and local creators. Dog training and enrichment supplies generate revenue that helps fund charitable programs and community initiatives. The shop also showcases artwork and handmade products created by local artists and makers, including individuals with diverse abilities. Revenue from these sales goes directly to the artists, supporting income generation, creative entrepreneurship, and greater financial independence.
