About Us
The Arts Council of the North Okanagan (ACNO) is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to fostering and promoting the arts in the North Okanagan region. With a mission to enrich the cultural fabric of the community, the ACNO provides support, resources, and opportunities to artists, arts and culture organizations, and the general public.
As an umbrella organization, we serve more than 30 diverse member groups, over 3000 individual and family members, and operate the Vernon Community Arts Centre. We offer a wide range of programs and initiatives designed to nurture and showcase artistic talent. We organize and promote various art exhibitions, workshops, and educational events throughout the year. These events serve as a means to connect artists with the community, providing exposure and recognition for their work.
As a vibrant hub for artistic expression, the ACNO serves as a catalyst for creativity, collaboration, and cultural growth. We bring together a diverse community of artists, performers, educators, and art enthusiasts, creating a platform for the exchange of ideas and the cultivation of artistic excellence.
Through advocacy efforts, the ACNO actively works to raise awareness about the importance of the arts and the positive impact on individual well-being and community development. We collaborate with local businesses, government agencies, and community organizations to create an environment that supports and values the arts.
By fostering a thriving arts community, the ACNO contributes to the economic and social vitality of the region by attracting tourists, enhancing the quality of life for residents, and contributing to the overall cultural identity of the community.
