UBCO Faculty Art Lecture Series
Join us for the first lecture in this new series where a UBCO Faculty member will speak on a variety of topics in the art world. This month we will be featuring Educator and Artist, Briar Craig. Briar will be discussing the topic of collage as the foundation of contemporary art. Collage is one of the most significant movements in modern and contemporary European and North American Art. From the early experiments by artists like Pablo Picasso and George Braque, collage has played a pivotal role in many of the dominant art movements of the 20th and 21st centuries and has infiltrated our very way of thinking about artistic practices. Everything from painting and installation to music sampling and animation has been flavored by the influences of collage. The talk will be an idiosyncratic and personalized take on how collage changed the art world. Admission is by donation.
