Allan Brooks Nature Centre (ABNC) invites the community to celebrate winter tradition and local wildlife at its 5th Annual Groundhog Day Celebration, taking place Monday, February 2, 2026, starting at 10:00 a.m.
The short but spirited event will be held in person at Allan Brooks Nature Centre and streamed live on ABNC’s YouTube channel, allowing everyone to take part no matter where they are. The event is free to attend, both online and in person.
Attendees visiting the Nature Centre can warm up with complimentary hot drinks and snacks, provided free of charge as part of the celebration.
The highlight of the morning will be the official Groundhog Day prognostication from Okie the Marmot, ABNC’s beloved mascot. Okie’s spring weather prediction will be read aloud by Mayor Cummings, continuing a fun and family-friendly tradition that blends education, community, and a bit of seasonal suspense.
