SUMMARY:Research Innovation Partnership Expo
DESCRIPTION:About RIPE\n\nJoin us for an educational and networking day with keynote speakers\, workshops\, employers pitching\, and a panel discussion on innovation and applied research.\n\n \n\nKeynote speakers\n\nThe Key Ingredient for Canada's Success in Innovation\n\nMr. Bert van den Berg\n\nDirector\, Colleges\, Commercialization and Portfolio Policy\, NSERC\n\nThe world is changing rapidly: technology\, evolving markets and demographics are presenting unprecedented opportunities and challenges. Innovation is central to prospering amidst these changes. Colleges\, working with local partners offer a key ingredient for Canada to succeed with innovation. This presentation will explore the changing context for innovation\, and the growing role that Canadian colleges play to help firms and other organizations to create products\, processes and/or services to help Canada succeed.\n\n \n\nThe Dirty Little Secret about Research\n\nDr. Patrick Finn\n\nSchool of Creative and Performing Arts / Computational Media Design. University of Calgary & Chair\, Research & Innovation\, Edmonton Digital Arts College\n\nSo much has changed over the past few years. Talk of rapid and radical change is everywhere. At times it is overwhelming. The truth is simpler and less interesting. The reality is\, you are already doing everything you need to do. In fact\, you are probably doing too much. Yes\, change is real\, but the world needs you and what you do. When we talk about applied research it is not a call to transform your work. The new approaches we are talking about are a recognition of the importance of what you do\, and a request for help. In this talk we explore how to approach applied research in a way that makes your work more effective and easier to manage.\n\n \n\nWorkshops\n\n"There exist many inspiring efforts to improve teaching and learning in Indigenous place and land-based contexts\, all which can be considered activist in nature" Dr. Tracy Friedel\, Associate Professor in the Department of Curriculum & Pedagogy at UBC will share about her research that included place-based learning and Indigenous Land-based Education.\n\nOther workshops include\; Research and Organizational Culture\, Research and Drones\, and Research\, Wine\, and Marijuana\n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration\n\nhttps://www.eventbrite.ca/e/ripe-tickets-44229877755?aff=es2
