DESCRIPTION:For over a century\, the Indian Residential School system in Canada violated the rights of First Nations\, Inuit and M tis children. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process and The Museum and Archives of Vernon recognizes it has an important role to play in the efforts towards reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in so-called Canada. On September 30th the Museum will host a special exhibition that honours the lost children and survivors of residential schools\, their families and communities. Short films will be played throughout the day and a discussion circle focused on our personal responsibility to the 94 Calls to Action will be held from 2pm - 4pm.
