SUMMARY:Chamber Webinar: Get Clear On Your Board's Role
DESCRIPTION:Often\, new directors are elected to a board and their only training session is their first board meeting. They are expected to immediately understand their role and rarely are trained to develop within that role.\n\n \n\nIn this one-hour live webinar\, Deb McClelland\, with OnBoard Training\, provides Greater Vernon Chamber members with an introduction to governance training by helping attendees understand their role as a board of directors.\n\n\n\nThe following key areas will be explored with your board of directors:\n\n \n\nGuiding Principles\n\nWhat is the board's role as a governing body? What are the principles that guide a board's authority?\n\n \n\nGovernance versus Operations\n\nWhere does the board fit in the overall picture of your organization? What is the job description for the board? At what level does the board get involved with operations?\n\n\n\nAbout Deb McClelland \n\nDeb McClelland\, with OnBoard Training\, has studied board governance for more than 20 years\, primarily through The Governance Group\, based in Vancouver. She has served on many boards\, including national and provincial boards\, for more than 35 years.\n\nDeb also worked as Executive Director at the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce for 15 years\, supporting her board of directors as they transitioned to a solid governance model.\n\nWithin all these experiences\, she came to realize that governance\, when done right\, could be fun and easy. That is why she has developed governance workshops\, including a streamlined strategic planning process\, that are highly effective\, engaging and inspiring.\n\nSome recent clients\n\nAlberni Community & Women's Services\n\nBritish Columbia Chamber Executives\n\nCanadian Home Builders Association\n\nCity of Penticton Economic Development Department\n\nKamloops Hospice\n\nPolice Victim Services of BC\n\nSouth Okanagan Women in Need Society\n\nSouthern Interior Construction Association
